Pressure Washing in Media, PA
Power washing and soft washing for Media’s Victorian and Queen Anne homes with painted wood and stucco, plus early stone colonials.

Media is the county seat and the most delicate housing stock we work on. The Victorians off State Street carry painted wood clapboard, decorative trim, porch brackets and stucco - all surfaces where high pressure does damage that costs a repaint to fix.
Painted wood sets the method, not the price
On a Victorian the whole exterior is a paint film holding hundred-year-old wood together. Pressure gets behind a lifting edge and takes the film with it. Everything here is soft washed: solution, dwell, gentle rinse, and the decorative trim and porch detail done by hand rather than blasted from the ground.
Stucco hides what it has absorbed
Older stucco is porous and unforgiving. It holds algae well below the surface, so it needs chemistry and time rather than force, and it will show you every hairline crack once it is clean. We would rather point those out to you than leave them under the green.
Porches, brackets and painted trim
A Media Victorian carries a lot of trim: porch brackets, turned posts, spindles and decorative shingles in the gables. Every piece holds dirt on its top edge, and much of the paint is decades old. We clean trim like this by hand at low pressure, and we point out any paint that is already lifting before we start, so nobody is surprised by what a wash reveals.
Walks, steps and shaded sidewalks
Media's shaded streets keep front walks and steps damp for much of the year, and damp concrete and brick grow a slick film of algae. Brick gets lower pressure than concrete, because the mortar and the soft brick edges wear first. A clean front walk is a safer one, which matters in a borough where people actually walk to town.
Porch ceilings and the parts above your head
On a deep Victorian porch, the ceiling, the beadboard and the tops of the posts collect cobwebs, pollen and mildew that nobody notices until they sit down and look up. They are part of a proper house wash here. We clean them gently by hand, because porch ceilings are usually painted wood, and it helps to clear the porch furniture before we arrive.
The nearest completed job to Media
The closest work we have photographed is about five miles away in Drexel Hill: An older stone home, siding to sidewalk. Same housing-stock questions, same methods, and you can look at every frame of it before you call.
See That JobMedia, in brief.
Media has been the county seat of Delaware County since 1850, when the Commonwealth incorporated the borough and moved the seat there from Chester. It was built from four farms the county bought, 480 acres in all, with streets laid out in a grid around the new courthouse. The name most likely comes from its place in the middle of the county, and the borough's borders have not changed since.
In the second half of the 1800s Media was a summer resort for well-off Philadelphians, with large hotels on Lincoln and Orange Streets, and the West Chester and Philadelphia Railroad reached it in 1854. Much of what stands today dates from that time. The 1940 Pennsylvania guide described the borough's houses as almost all built since the Civil War, set far back on shaded lawns.
State Street still carries the Media Theatre, which opened as a vaudeville house in 1927, and the 1908 Media Armory. In 2006 Media became the first town in the United States to earn fair trade certification.
The borough is small, less than a square mile, but the Media ZIP code covers about 23 square miles around it, from Rose Valley and Glen Riddle to Middletown. Providence Road runs along the borough's eastern edge, and Baltimore Avenue runs through the middle of town.
