Pressure Washing in Haverford, PA
Power washing and soft washing for Haverford’s large stone and stucco homes on wooded lots around the college.

Haverford combines the two hardest conditions in one place: large, valuable stone and stucco houses, set on heavily wooded lots. The canopy that makes the setting means constant shade, constant damp and the fastest organic growth on the Main Line.
Shade plus stone is the worst combination for growth
Porous stone and stucco hold moisture, and continuous canopy stops them drying. Growth gets established below the surface rather than on it, which is why a Haverford wall can look uniformly gray-green rather than streaked. It needs chemistry and dwell time, and it needs the growth killed rather than rinsed back.
Terraces under trees are a seasonal problem
Stone terraces and steps beneath mature trees take a fresh load of leaf litter every fall, and wet leaves left in place through winter leave tannin shadows in the stone. Clearing flatwork before winter is worth more than cleaning it afterwards.
Stone, stucco and painted shingle
Around the college and along the lanes off Montgomery Avenue, Haverford homes are large and old, built of stone, stucco and painted shingle. Shingle and painted wood need a soft wash, stone needs a tested and gentle rinse, and many of these houses have all three.
Tree roots and uneven walks
Big trees lift sidewalks and walkways over the years, and uneven slabs hold water and grow algae along their raised edges. Cleaning makes them safer to walk on and shows clearly where a slab has lifted, which is worth knowing before someone trips.
Long driveways and garden walls
Larger Haverford lots often come with long driveways, garden walls and stone paths that wind through the yard. Those surfaces sit under the same trees as the house and darken at the same pace. A surface cleaner handles the open driveway evenly, and the walls and paths get a lower pressure and more hand work, so every surface on the property ends up equally clean.
Brick walks and old steps
Older Haverford properties often have brick walks and worn stone or concrete steps that have settled over the decades. Brick has soft edges and softer mortar, so it gets a lower pressure than concrete, and the moss comes out of the joints with it. Old steps are detailed by hand, risers and edges included, so they match the walk that leads to them.

See That JobHaverford, in brief.
Haverford takes its name from Haverford Township, established in 1681, which was named for Haverfordwest in Wales. The community spans Haverford Township and Lower Merion Township, and the name came into wider use after a postal address change in 1946. The Pennsylvania Railroad opened Haverford Station in 1880, at milepost 9.17 on the Main Line.
It is best known for Haverford College and the Merion Cricket Club, one of the oldest country clubs in the United States, whose clubhouse was designed by Frank Furness. Furness also designed Dolobran, the 1881 mansion of Clement Griscom on Laurel Lane.
Some local landmarks go back further. Allgates on Coopertown Road dates from 1731, and the Federal School on Haverford-Darby Road, an early schoolhouse, from 1797.
Haverford borders Havertown, Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Gladwyne and Wynnewood, and touches a small corner of Broomall. Lancaster Avenue, Montgomery Avenue, Haverford Road and the Blue Route all pass through. Many Haverford homes sit back from the road on wooded lots with long driveways, so we plan hose runs and parking before the day of the job. Our Havertown work is about two miles away, on houses from the same era.
